SCHOOL TENNIS Is the next Andy Murray or Justine Henin in your household or at your school? "To me, the 3 R's should be 'Reading, Writing, and Rackets!" Jon states as he enthuses about the project to spread the tennis word across the district. Head of Futures section Jon Meredith will be coming to a school near you in the next month or so to continuously introduce more and more eager children to our terrific sport! Focussing on children between the ages of 4-7 years, we will be running sessions and providing a range of tennis opportunities in the local area to increase the amount of hours children participate in sport. Regular talent open days are also held once per term to invite children to try out for the High Performance Programme as we are always searching for new talent and excited at finding the next Andy Murray from the District. Indeed, local school kids have already been selected for our elite scheme and local school children are already having success in tournaments at all levels. St. Albans District Council have part-funded the project to provide introductory Tennis Taster sessions, School mini tennis leagues, and a Wimbledon Fun Day. Holiday camps and regular clubs and courses are also offered to generate interest and talent among your children. If you wish to discuss the schools section or maybe your school would like to get involved in schools tennis, please contact Jon Meredith on 07748 777080 or email jonmeredith@batchwoodtennis.co.uk
