Andrea Ramsey Profile Andrea was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. From the age of 12 she was a member of the Hungarian National Junior and later the Ladies team. She won numerous singles and doubles tournaments and National titles at both levels. She represented Hungary in numerous international junior tournaments and competed at both the French Open Junior tournament and the prestigious Orange Bowl in Miami. Andrea played for Hungary in the Federation Cup in 1984 in Brazil, beating British player Ann Hobbs on the way. In the same year she won the Hungarian National Ladies Title in doubles and came third in singles. She was ranked 4th behind such tennis superstar as Andrea Temesvari. In her early 20s, Andrea received a full tennis scholarship to San Diego, California, and played there for an NCAA division one team. She completed a BA and an MS degree with honours. Following her academic years she went to work for a worldwide accountancy firm, where she stayed for 5 1/2 years, during which she qualified as a USCPA. For the past 9 years Andrea has been living in Chorleywood/Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire with her husband and three young children. She has been coaching mini tennis for the past four years at the Chorleywood Lawn Tennis Club. Currently she has approximately 70 children under her coaching. Her enthusiasm, energy, dedication and hard work have drawn many young children to the sport of tennis. She is an LTA licensed DCA coach. |
