The Pathway to Tarbes scheme
The Pathway to Tarbes scheme is a funded scheme for the best young talented mini tennis players in the region. The scheme started in September 2007 and Batchwood has since produced 19 regional and 4 national players since the beginning.
Trials are held once per term where local and linked coaches nominate their most promising mini players. The scheme includes 3 hours of groups per week, regular holiday camps and monthly competition as well as access to high performance coaches.
Places are very competitive so there needs to be a revolving door policy of players.
The scheme is run in conjunction with Herts LTA and Gosling.
The sucess of the scheme has meant that Internationally renowned visitors from foreign federations have visited as well as Batchwood' s sessions being videoed by the LTA to be used as best in practice and shown in coach education courses throughout the UK.
