Batchwood HPC was one of the first four selected centres based on its proven track record for producing national and international players. In addition to funding, they have also supplied a support network of regional personnel with expertise in coaching, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and facility development. Batchwood HPC and the LTA have worked in partnership over many years to deliver cutting edge schemes for players such as the AASE scheme and in the future more initiatives are planned for the development of the Batchwood facility and the local schools and parks. | | ![[images/uh] uh [images/uh] uh](image/uh) University of Hertfordshire
| The University of Hertfordshire and Batchwood HPC are working together to provide a managed programme of strength and conditioning and screening for players selected to join the HPC programme. The university is a leader amongst UK universities in the use of networked electronic systems to support learning and teaching. The university has recently invested over £120 million in its new de Havilland campus. The de Havilland campus also features the £15 million Hertfordshire Sports Village (adjacent to the Saracens rugby training centre) which is recognised for its range and quality of service provision as being the best in the region and amongst the leaders in the university sector. In addition to the Saracens presence, the sports village hosts National Super League Netball, Arsenal Ladies Football Team, National League Basketball and National League Swimming. |
Herts LTA | Herts LTA are based at Gosling tennis centre and have been a long standing partner of Batchwood HPC. There is a strong link on the development of projects such as the Pathway to Tarbes scheme for the development of talented mini tennis players, coach education, school and club strategy and funding for key high performance players. Batchwood have produced many players that have represented Herts in county junior and senior events. Coaches from the centre have also captained teams on behalf of Herts over a number of years. | | Elite Sport Ltd
| Elite Sport Ltd and Batchwood HPC have launched a unique IT programme to support the high performance initiatives at Batchwood. This includes some ground breaking tools in association with Herts LTA that enable players to remotely access training regimes and work independently on aspects of their personal development as a player. This includes sports psychology, strength and conditioning programmes and access to nutritional, screening and tennis information. This system has enabled all partners to work in harmony by creating a unique connection in response to the demands of modern day players and programmes. Elite supplies niche software solutions to sports organisations including Clubs, Counties, Governing Bodies, UK Sport and International sports organisations. Leisure Connection Ltd | The St Albans Arts, Sport & Health Development Team is provided by St Albans District Council and managed in partnership with Leisure Connection Ltd. The Development Team has a proven track record in delivering high quality programmes, projects and events throughout the District. Through close partnership working the team has secured a huge amount of funding to enhance development opportunities throughout the District.As part of a 10 year management contract with the local authority the HPC tennis team is now a structured part of the Districts development team. Together we are working to develop an infrastructure which identifies and promotes opportunities for the community to become involved in and stay involved in sport and physical activity. Tennis development is a major focus sport across the District. Harpenden and St Albans Schools Sports Partnership | Batchwood HPC a has formed a new relationship with the Harpenden & St Albans Schools Sports Partnership. The vision of the partnership is to provide opportunities for all young people to take part in sport and improve physical activity levels, health and general well being. The partnership would like to show how PE and Sport can have an impact on all aspects of school and personal life, and the wider benefits of this area of work. Through school liaison, school club links, out of school hours activities, talent id sessions and coaching and leadership courses we will work to not only increase the number of children and young people participating in tennis at all levels but also to increase the number of young coaches and officials. | | ![[images/gosling] [images/gosling]](image/gosling) Gosling HPC
| Gosling and Batchwood were in the unique situation of being situated in the same county, the only example of two HPC’s in one county across the entire UK. In order to work in the best interests of the players and to ensure economy of scale, the HPC’s joined forces in April 2007. The result being that there is now a cross over on a number of initiatives in talent attraction, detection and development. The main projects that have been jointly developed include the Pathway to Tarbes scheme for the development of talented mini tennis players, coach education, school and club strategy, the AASE scheme and trips and tournaments for key high performance players. |
