The 12u Squad is the elite U12 academy squad.  It is invitational to performance players who are of a national level (LTA – Player Performance Potential rating 4 and above).  Some of these players will be of international potential.  These players need to be pursuing excellence and aiming towards gaining a top U12 national ranking (LTA matrix level funded).

The coaching programme is over 35 weeks and split into 3 terms.  It is an extensive training programme designed to prepare players at their age and stage of development, giving them the chance to reach elite level.  It consists of:

• 2 squad training sessions per week
• 1 strength and conditioning group sessions
• Individualised strength and conditioning programmes (managed via the IT system)
• Mental skills group sessions (x12)
• Individualised mental skills programme (managed via the IT system)
• Individual lessons arranged with the player’s key coach
• Inter-club matches

A comprehensive coaching curriculum is written for the squad programme designed to develop many tactical concepts and allow players to learn about the game, develop their strengths and grow into their game-style.

The HPC will sponsor academy trips by sending a travelling coach for top domestic competitions.  Also there will opportunities for players of the right level to gain European tournament experience.  Every player is required to commit to the full programme, aspire to reaching their full potential and buy in the ethos and philosophy of the centre.
